We stayed in the hotel 15 yearsago and like the old world atmosphere and excellent food
it was fine
Wonderful place. Celebrated my friend's birthday there with a beautiful location, very nice hotel and nice evening meal. It was just what I wanted to celebrate her birthday and she was elated...
Stay was not long enough. Next time!!!
When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, the reservation which I made on Booked.net at lunchtime the same day hadn't made its way to the hotel. Nevertheless the hotel found us another room at very short notice and offered us dinner free, up to the difference between the tarriff of the room we booked and the room we got. Most welcome & appreciated.
The Londonderry Arms is an old, historic hotel, reputed to have been visited and owned by Winston Churchill (who inherited it). The public rooms are full of history and fascinating photos. The hotel is old-fashioned and simple, but the service was very good, and the room was impeccably clean, if lit dimly for reading. Bed was very comfortable, and shower was very good. We booked an affordable "luxury suite," quite a large room with a nice front view. Though we stayed in more "luxury" hotels in Northern Ireland, the Londonderry Arms was the only one to provide a basket of fresh fruit in the room. Both dinner and breakfast were lovely. The surrounding walks, glens and places of interest are numerous; would definitely recommend and re-visit.
Nice old and charming place but quite poor service.
Poor service, our bathroom needed renovation.
Lovely views, good hotel and staff great.
Not much really. We stayed her before, but it has gone downhill a lot. The room we had this time was an "executive room", what a joke! Ok the bathroom has been completely re-fitted and although still rather small was adequate. The food on the evening we arrived was best described as poor, Bar food standard and a grease fest. Breakfast was more of the same greasey fair. I certainly would not stay here again.
I found it to be a freindly welcoming hotel. However as I was only there overnight I canot comment on the facilities etc in any great depth.
The only thing that I noticed were the cobwebs on the bedroom ceiling
Beautiful old coaching style inn, with wood panneling and lots of history. Plenty of rooms to choose to relax in, bars and two restuarants. Food in the bistro was good and well priced and the staff were friendly and helpful. The village of Carnlough was pretty and alright for a short stay.
The decor of the hotel was a bit careworn and things like the shower in our room were functional but not very good. I like faded elegance and don,t worry to much about these things but my partner was less impressed.
Inattentiveness of some staff
great staff +lovely warm fires
